In this activity, students will establish which Iroquoian Nations have established communities in Quebec. They will then explore a document collection and establish facts about Iroquoian Nations. When done, they can create a graphic to illustrate the facts established.
In this activity, students will learn more about Indigenous Language Families in Quebec and the 11 Indigenous Nations with communities in Quebec. They will research which language(s) are spoken by members of each Nation, which language family members of the Nation self-identify with, and make connections between the historical periods and the present day.
Large placemats students can use as they progress through class activities and explore sources of information, including society pages on the site.
Quick discussion challenges where students search for clues within a set of documents. Students choose one image and explain why it best represents a concept or big idea!
A card game specifically designed to focus on the “situate in time” and “determine changes” intellectual operations (IOs). It is designed for cycle 2 students who are working on exploring the changes that occurred to Iroquoian societies between 1500 and 1745.
