Patrilineal societies are the ones that connect generations through the father’s line. Children are considered the father’s descendants and men are viewed as the owners of all of the property and have a right to pass it on. Ownership and often identity is transferred through the men. Note: This might be different than patriarchal, which means only that the society is controlled by men.
