Mohawk/Kanien’kehaka Creation Story
For the Iroquois, the traditional concept of the universe is inspired by their intimate relationship with the environment. This world view is handed down from generation to generation through the telling of stories. The most important of these stories is that of the Creation.
Here is one version of that story, as told by Shelley Goodleaf-McComber, a teacher at Kateri School in Kahnawake, along with Corissa, Jarrod, Jay, and Devin, who are students at the school.
