Pehr Kalm tells us that in New York, « in addition to the synagogue and the templeendroit public pour prier un Dieu of the Quakers, there were seven noteworthy churches: The Anglican Church, built in 1695, two Dutch churches, a Presbyterian church, two German churches and a French church for Protestant refugees.
