This LES for elementary cycle 3 focuses on how Indigenous societies are organized on a territoryA territory is an area of land, or sometimes of sea, that we can say "belongs"... today. The goal is to help students understand that Indigenous Nations have a long and ongoing history on this territoryA territory is an area of land, or sometimes of sea, that we can say "belongs"...; the Indigenous Nations that students learn about in 1500, 1745, and 1980 were present on this territoryA territory is an area of land, or sometimes of sea, that we can say "belongs"... before 1500 and are still present today. While this LES does not explicitly focus on competency 2, studying how societies are organized on a territoryA territory is an area of land, or sometimes of sea, that we can say "belongs"... today can also help students understand the notion of change over time.
In this LES, students will learn more about the 11 Nations with communities established in Quebec. They will select a Nation and research tourism opportunities that currently exist in communities established by that particular Nation. They will plan a trip to these locations and create a production to share the proposed trip with their peers. This folder includes a Teacher Guide, Student Workbook, formative and summative evaluation, and accompanying documents.
