The Arrival of Jacques Cartier: Impacts on Indigenous and European Societies
The history of many different societies was impacted by Jacques Cartier’s Voyages to Turtle Island. In this activity, you will work in groups of 5. Individually, you will establish fact from a document. Then, you will share the facts with the other members of your small group. Finally, you will work together to situate the events in time and construct a timeline using digital tools. Lastly, you will reflect on how the same events had different impacts of various societies, like members of the St. Lawrence Iroquoian Nation and the Europeans who were exploring their territory.
